Please keep his family in your prayers.
He will be missed. RIP Preston

  1. After great pain ––
    A formal feeling comes.
    The nerves sit ceremoniously ––
    Like tombs.

    The stiff heart questions ––
    "Was it He that bore
    And Yesterday or centuries before?"

    The feet, mechanical, go 'round ––
    A wooden way ––
    Of ground –– or air –– or ought ––
    Regardless grown ––
    A quartz contentment –– like a stone.

    This is the Hour of Lead.
    Remembered –– if outlived ––
    As freezing persins recollect the snow.

    First chill –– then stupor ––
    Then the letting go.

      You and I are able to communicate privately, but I don't know many I could trust that well.

      Bless you for your kind and generous thoughts, Silver.

  7. _________ NOCTURNE _________

    Now through night's caressing grip
    Earth and all her oceans slip,
    Capes of China slide away
    From her fingers into day
    And th'Americas incline
    Coasts towards her shadow line.

    Now the ragged baggar creeps
    Into crooked holes to sleep:
    Just and unjust, worst and best,
    Change their places as they rest:
    Awkward lovers like in fields
    Where disdainful beauty yields:

    While the splendid and the proud
    Naked stand before the crowd
    And the losing gambler gains
    And the beggar entertains:
    May sleep's healing power extend
    Through these hours to our friend.
    Unpursued by hostile force,
    Traction engine, bull, or horse
    Or revolting succubus;
    Calmly till the morning break
    Let him lie, then gently wake.

      Of course, I am the the unorthodox sort of Christian who believes that God loves us ALL no matter how unlovable we may seem to one another, and that He forgives every basically decent human being, even those who doubt His existence.

      Jersey was more than decent. He was both loving and lovable –– and he was more honest than most.

      I doubt if God loves pious hypocrites any more than he does honest skeptics.

    Remember me when I am gone away,
    Gone far away into the silent land;
    When you can no more hold me by the hand,
    Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

    Remember me when no more, day by day,
    You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
    Only remember me; you understand
    It will be late to counsel then or pray.

    Yet if you should forget me for a while
    And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
    For if the darkness and corruption leave
    A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

    Better by far you should forget and smile
    Than that you should remember and be sad.

  12. Give All to Love

    Give all to love;
    Obey thy heart;
    Friends, kindred, days,
    Estate, good-fame,
    Plans, credit and the Muse,—
    Nothing refuse.

    ’Tis a brave master;
    Let it have scope:
    Follow it utterly,
    Hope beyond hope:
    High and more high
    It dives into noon,
    With wing unspent,
    Untold intent:
    But it is a god,
    Knows its own path
    And the outlets of the sky.

    It was never for the mean;
    It requireth courage stout.
    Souls above doubt,
    Valor unbending,
    It will reward,—
    They shall return
    More than they were,
    And ever ascending.

    Leave all for love;
    Yet, hear me, yet,
    One word more thy heart behoved,
    One pulse more of firm endeavor,—
    Keep thee today,
    Tomorrow, forever,
    Free as an Arab
    Of thy beloved.

    Cling with life to the maid;
    But when the surprise,
    First vague shadow of surmise
    Flits across her bosom young,
    Of a joy apart from thee,
    Free be she, fancy-free;
    Nor thou detain her vesture’s hem,
    Nor the palest rose she flung
    From her summer diadem.

    Though thou loved her as thyself,
    As a self of purer clay,
    Though her parting dims the day,
    Stealing grace from all alive;
    Heartily know,
    When half-gods go,
    The gods arrive.

      As for my comment, it is relevant. I wouldn't take a damn thing anyone said here at face value. Supposedly the Stay A While TOM also died of brain cancer (TOM: "Having brain cancer, I question my mental abilities" 6/22/2010). But, given the fact that TOM is Luke's sockpuppet, clearly that was a lie.

      And, no, I am NOT saying there was no Jersey (Preston?) and he did not die, only that I'm not privy to any information proving that what is being discussed here actually happened. Although Shaw posed on the same topic, and I am inclined to believe her. Yet, I don't know how she came by her information either.

  15. A TRAGIC IRONY in the NEWS

    Sen. John McCain, 80, has been diagnosed with a primary glioblastoma, a type of brain tumor, Mayo Clinic doctors directly involved in the senator's care told CNN exclusively. (CNN)

    That's CANCER of the BRAIN in plain layman's language. –– virtually the same disease that took our buddy Jersey away at age 48.

    At least McCain survived to age 80 before this overtook him. Jersey never had the chance to fulfill his own potential.

    Early reports on MSNBC claim that the surgeons at the MAYO CLINIC were able to remove the entire mass. One can't help but wonder, however, whe –– or even if –– the senator will be able to resume his duties in congress

    4. McCain (as far as I know) didn't say he was a "NO" vote. Trump is extremely bloodthirsty in his desire to see ObamaCare fail (causing the death of many people). It will be interesting to see how McCain votes and what he advocates for following his return to the Senate (which he says he is doing). Hopefully he will be inclined to advocate to save lives. As opposed to murdering (by taking away their healthcare) as many "takers" as possible (what the majority of Republicans seem to want).

      Delete
    11. The only thing that happened MANY TIMES was you SAYING you posted death threats or "admissions" to death threats. You never actually did either of these things.

      "Now you use someone's death to attack me" is BULLSHIT, since you never thought Jersey was a real person, but a sockpuppet controlled by RN. A sockpuppet can't die, idiot. Not that I think Jersey was a sockpuppet (I do not).

      But you do! You stated it MANY times. You ADMITTED it in your initial response. Although you say you only mentioned that TAO claimed it. But you brought it up to AGREE with TAO. If not, EXPLAIN the context, idiot! There was no other reason for you to bring it up. TAO does not comment here and nobody was discussing TAO or Jersey being an "alter ego" of anyone.

      PROOF that you are the lying scum and very likely a psycho. Clearly you are nuts, what with your idiocy of thinking leaving unwanted comments on a blog makes someone a "criminal". Something you say you reported me to the police and the FBI for. Ha ha ha ha ha. Moron.

    12. You truly are delusional.
      In the face of your own words proving you a liar, that I posted here many times.

    13. You are delusional. Your first response to me in this thread proves it. You wrote "The folks at my new blog were telling me that the criminal lying Dervish is using a persons death to promote his lies about me". YOU call me the "criminal lying Dervish". The "folks" you refer to don't exist. There are no comments saying any such thing on your new blog (which very likely also does not exist).

      BTW, I can't be using someone's death to attack you because (1) there was no "attack". I stated a fact. You have said Jersey is RN's sockpuppet many times (2) According to you, nobody died. A sockpuppet isn't a person and therefore can't die. Which is what you have claimed that Jersey is. Many times.

      TOM and Steve also referred to the TAO comment (made on RN's blog in 2013). Proof that TOM and Steve are YOUR "alter egos". You've pointed out numerous times that (as "Luke") you've only been blogging for a short while. Yet you're aware of the comment (and brought up for you say now no reason) many times.

      The only reason you comment here is because, on ALL the other blogs you have trolled, everyone knows that YOU are a joke, a pathological liar and seriously mentally unstable.

  24. So what did you think about OJ Simpson being paroled?
    Frankly I thought that 33 years for an armed robbery struck me as a stiff sentence. I think that the jurors in that case were really prosecuting him for the Nicole/Goldman murders... Now don’t get me wrong! I think that there wasn’t any doubt about the decision in the Murder case being completely wrong and that he WAS as guilty as hell for those Murders,. And for my part he should have been put in jail for the rest of his life! . But that’s another story.

  34. ____________ Riders in the Sky ___________

    An old cowpoke went riding out one dark and windy day
    Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
    When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw
    A'plowin' through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw

    Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
    Ghost riders in the sky

    Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
    Their horns wuz black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
    A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
    For he saw the riders comin' hard and he heard their mournful cry

    Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
    Ghost riders in the sky

    Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, and shirts all soaked with sweat
    They're ridin' hard to catch that herd but they ain't caught them yet
    They've got to ride forever in that range up in the sky
    On horses snortin' fire, as they ride on, hear their cry

    Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
    Ghost riders in the sky

    As the riders loped on by him, he heard one call his name
    "If you want to save your soul from hell a' ridin' on our range"
    "Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride"
    "A-tryin' to catch the Devil's herd across these endless skies."

    When I was a boy, this song was heard on the radio every day and on every jukebox in every hash house and restaurant for many months. It was certainly not Jersey's style –– at least not as he presented himself here in Blogistan –– but I think he would have found it appealing all the same. I was fortunate to be able to get to know him outside the blogosphere, and found he had a vivid imagination and the capacity to see far beyond his familiar parochial interests.

    He knew full well that I frankly despised the kind of music he professed to love best, and yet he was KIND enough, and WISE enough to realize there was great virtue in classical music.

    He told me he did in fact enjoy Beethoven & CO. a lot, and had even been known to attend the opera now and then, though he preferred not to emphasize that side of himself here –– part of maintaining the unique, rough and ready blog persona he had created for himself no doubt.

    At any rate, –– though I doubt two people could be farther apart in their stated political aims and preferences, –– and all the other things that might have kept us forever at odds ––, we were able to look beneath the surface and find much to like and respect in each other because of our common humanity –– and doubtless our common point of origin in the New York metropolitan area.

    The latter created an instant bond. You'd have to have been born and brought up there, yourself, to understand, but we New Yorkers, Long Islanders, and Jerseyites have an instinctive understanding, love and respect for each other that transcends, social, economic and cultural barriers.

    In short Jersey and I LIKED each other –– even LOVED each other before it was al over –– and in the end, dear friends, that is ALL that really matters.

  37. "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

    We would do well to meditate on the meaning and implications contained in those few words.

    "REST" is not the same thing as "UNCONSCIOUSNESS." It's quite the opposite. Real "rest" comes with an ever-expanding awareness of the true nature of Reality.

    "Lift thine eyes to the mountains whence cometh our help."

    What could "mountains" possibly mean in this context?

  38. Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God by which ye are sealed unto the Day of Redemption.

    Let all bitterness and wrath and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice.

    And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God, who for Christ's Sake hath forgiven you."

  40. The Soul selects her own Society ––
    Then shuts the door.
    To her divine Majority ––
    Present no more.

    Unmoved, she notes the Chariot's
    Pausing at her low Gate ––
    Unmoved, an Emperor ––
    Is kneeling upon her mat.

    I've seen her from an ample Nation ––
    Choose –– One ––
    Then close the Valves of her Attention ––
    Like Stone.

    ~ Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)

    Well, Jersey, you are safe in your alabaster chamber now with your own good company where neither pain nor grief nor scorn can ever touch you again. May your eternal rest be blest, and nothing ever harm you or distress you again. I hope we will meet on The Other Side where we will know each other and love each other as God has known and loved us since long before we were born into this vale of tears and confusion.
