I have an old friend from college days who owns 27 acres in the Virginia Blue Ridge. He has devoted his life for the past twenty years to rescuing dogs from the local shelter. He's caring for fourteen at last count.
Not a 'hoarder" at all. He has the space and the means to treat these animals as well as they need and deserve to be treated.
May God continue to bless him and all responsible animal lovers -- and your special friend Joey.
I hope they keep him too. That picture is worth more than a thousand words, Lisa.
The saddest scene I remember from Katrina was the forced separation of a little boy from his beloved dog "Snowflake." The child's cries as he was forced to board a "rescue" bus without his snow white canine friend have stayed with me all these years.
I've never learned whether the boy and his friend were ever reunited.
Amazing that that seems more cruel to me than all the human tragedy surrounding that sad, sorry event.
Thanks FT,yes I remember stories from Katrina. I didn't hear about that one. I do remember one story where they had to separate a boy and his older dog to transport to another location and he was hysterical to be separated from the dog. And I was so impressed with Anderson Coper he told the boy he would make sure his dog got to him safely and they showed them reunite. It was so awesome.
No I've just been busy. Plus I made some new buddies surrounding this dog if you can believe it. I promise this week to stop slacking form my bloggy friends.
I just read Shaw's dumb-ass blog when she says that Mitt Romney want's to kill Big Bird. Who gives a rats behind about Big Bird when we should be really worried about Bozo Barack the Clown!
Awww... and love the floppy ears!
ReplyDeleteI hope they keep him . That is the vet's son who is treating him

I don't even read the left wing blogs any more. I have been on Face Book alot too lately with conservative commentors. Man that is addicting too.
