Update on My Hubby

Paul is doing well with is treatments. He had a tough first week but is slowly bouncing back. He has 3 more chemo treatments and is finished with radiation which he had to his head and lower back. No more lower back pain and the Dr is hopeful the radiation will eradicate the brain lesions. One more spot on the lung that they are hoping to shrink with the chemo and then eradicate with radiation.
They haven't seen it anywhere else so that's a good thing.
So once he is off the steroids he will feel more normal again. Those steroids have some crappy side effects but are necessary. He also received immune therapy drugs in the chemo IV which is has been successful in the experimental stages. That is a pretty new thing they do now. and another drug that stimulate the bone marrow all to search out and destroy cancer cells.
So far we are doing ok and the other good thing is that his treatments are only 20 minutes away as we live very close to the North Shore Technology Center .
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes . Please continue to wish us luck as we continue down this unfamiliar territory..

  3. Glad to read that things are going as well as they are, Lisa.

The best life advice I've ever been given came from fellow blogger Cubed (no longer active in the blogosphere):

    "Cherish your beloveds."

Make time for you and Paul to enjoy each other's company -- one way to cherish your beloved.

  4. I'm glad to hear you both are weathering this storm so well, Lisa.

Funny coicidence! I featured your situation at my blog today, and invited kind, encouraging comments only.

Needless to say you both have been in my prayers since you shared this difficult news with us.

As Thersites said, "Hang in there!" Never give up, –– never give in –– no matter how tough the going may get.

    God bless!

  5. Cancer treatment effects the whole family Lisa, my prayers are with you and your loved ones. When my family was going through a members treatment I realized chemo nurses are true angels on earth.

Politics is politics, often brutal and certainly more so than MOST wish it were.

Politics aside... Lisa, my thoughts are with you and your husband at this time. I hope your husband beats the cancer and has a full and compete recovery.

Stay strong, keep your faith, and your husband will beat this.

    1. Good man, Rusty!

"Discretion is the better part of valor."

There are many things it's better to leave unsaid, don't you think?

We don't HAVE to try to refute every objectionable remark. It can be fun, I grant you, but it spreads like wildfire and soon takes over the whole blog.

I don't think that's fair to Lisa, especially not right now.

I just didn't want "Nursie" at my blog, even if he was behaving himself decently. It ALWAYS leads to trouble if I let him stay there.

I transferred what he said to WYD, because I wouldn't want him –– or anyone else –– to be able to say I am "unfair" –– not that they won't anyway, but at least I tried to do my bit for basic decency.

  12. Hey, whatever happened to that potatohead Dervish Sanders?

    1. Potatohead? No, I'm not a Trump supporter. BTW, as I am commenting I guess I have to say that I wish neither Lisa nor her husband ill. This is my genuine sentiment, and not something I say because an idiot warned me.

    2. One shouldn't mix the sacredness of life with the profanity of politics, Rusty. Hence the good advice in the old adage, "If you have nothing good to say, PLEASE remain silent."

  13. I second that, Thersites. Rusty, feel free to slap liberals around on my blog sites. Dervish provided some free advertising by linking 1 of my Wordpress blog sites on his reply. You can also find my blogger sites on my profile. Hey Dervish, thanks for the free advertising here. Lisa, I hope Paul continues to do well. I'm thankful to hear that the experimental drugs are working.

    1. I did not submit anything to your fake comments blog, yet this post for which I gave "free advertising" somehow has a comment from "Dervish Sanders".

I've expressed my thoughts and prayers directly to Lisa.

  15. Lisa,

I just wanted to tell you that you and your husband have been much on my mind and in my prayers since you told us what was happening in your lives.

I hope good will has healing value, because a great abundance has been sent your way.

    Let nothing disturb thee ––
    Nothing affright thee ––
    God never changeth.
    Patient endurance
    Attaineth to all things..
    Whom God possesseth
    In nothing is wanting ––
    Alone God sufficeth.

Beloved source of character and strength.
An asset to her family and our nation
Refreshing for her lack of agitation.
Barbara lived a good life of great length.
    A life patrician, gracious, down-to-earth
    Regal, yet a quintessential mother
A fount of strong opinion like no other,
But muted, disciplined, and tinged with mirth.
    Unusually poised in public life
She had a kind of beauty very rare

Resplendent in her crown of snow white hair
In no way mean, her mind always engaged
Proud, yet humble, and always the ideal wife.

  19. Lisa, I’m certain that you don’t think for one minute that the above post was written by me
When it’s obvious it was really written by some WILD ANIMAL. An Animal that shouldn’t be allowed to walk the streets let alone write on a blog.
    Thanks for understanding.
