Once again the month of November has rolled around and it’s a great time to reflect on what we have and to be thankful for, rather than what we are pissed off about, as Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. In these past Eleven months for many, sadly there has not been much for us to be Happy about, And even less Happy when we think about the past 2 years when so many of us lost Loved Ones, and lost businesses, unemployment, we went through so many harsh restrictions with no basis in science, supply chain issues, open borders and uncontrolled influx of “refugees” draining what little we have to offer our own citizens, rising crime and sanctuary cities, rioting, looting, radicalization in our schools, labeling citizens exercising their rights as “domestic terrorists” and more have hurt our country. Unlike the privileged far left elite, many have not had the luxury of working from home, affording the rising costs of groceries, gas and other essential items, keeping tighter tabs on what exactly their kids are being taught or being able to live in gated communities free of the rising crime brought on by soft on crime legislation and the influx of illegals and so called refugees from terrorism-plagued countries. Those people lost their family business due to double standards while the liquor store and abortion clinics were open. They risked covid exposure to stock our shelves, take out our trash, deliver our mail, serve us in restaurants, etc. They continue to struggle to afford basic necessities due to rising costs in Biden’s economy. They had to struggle to balance work and having their kids learn from home as they can’t afford to miss work but need childcare unlike the upper middle class who could work from home too. I haven't told this story before, but a few years back (before China attacked us with their genetically engineered WuFlu) I was walking down the sidewalk in downtown Cypress. Suddenly an unmarked van pulled up beside me and a half dozen large male jigs jumped out. Before I knew it one of them threw a bag over my head and hustled me into the back of the van. DeleteOnce again the month of November has rolled around and it’s a great time to reflect on what we have and to be thankful for, rather than what we are pissed off about, as Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away.
ReplyDeleteIn these past Eleven months for many, sadly there has not been much for us to be Happy about, And even less Happy when we think about the past 2 years when so many of us lost Loved Ones, and lost businesses, unemployment, we went through so many harsh restrictions with no basis in science, supply chain issues, open borders and uncontrolled influx of “refugees” draining what little we have to offer our own citizens, rising crime and sanctuary cities, rioting, looting, radicalization in our schools, labeling citizens exercising their rights as “domestic terrorists” and more have hurt our country. Unlike the privileged far left elite, many have not had the luxury of working from home, affording the rising costs of groceries, gas and other essential items, keeping tighter tabs on what exactly their kids are being taught or being able to live in gated communities free of the rising crime brought on by soft on crime legislation and the influx of illegals and so called refugees from terrorism-plagued countries. Those people lost their family business due to double standards while the liquor store and abortion clinics were open. They risked covid exposure to stock our shelves, take out our trash, deliver our mail, serve us in restaurants, etc. They continue to struggle to afford basic necessities due to rising costs in Biden’s economy. They had to struggle to balance work and having their kids learn from home as they can’t afford to miss work but need childcare unlike the upper middle class who could work from home too. For the 99% who aren’t the privileged elite making all the rules, 2020 and 2021 have been very hard years with a lot of adversity.
However, even in these darker times, there can still be things to be thankful for, and it’s not always about being thankful for things, but rather the values we were raised with, opportunities we still have, our resilience to get through tougher times without breaking down. In many ways, we as conservatives, are privileged. Not in the way the Left likes to define it, such as in terms of identity politics, but in our values, our ideals and our drive to make this country great again. Those make up the privilege we all share, regardless of what jobs we have, what we can afford, or what we had to face this past year and the last.
