Donations flood Indiana’s Memories Pizza after RFRA fallout

By 2 p.m. Thursday, they had far surpassed their goal – raking in more than $190,000.
Countless people condemned the small business after co-owner Crystal O’Connor appeared on WBND-LD to discuss her support for RFRA, or Senate Bill 101, which critics say legalizes discrimination against gays and lesbians.
O’Connor claims she would serve gay customers but believes her Christian faith prevents her from catering their wedding receptions.
“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” O'Connor told the local ABC affiliate.
After the segment went viral, Memories Pizza closed temporarily due tothreatening phone calls, social media messages, and Yelp reviews.
Dana Loesch, a conservative TV host on The Blaze, who helped kick off the GoFundMe page, interviewed O’Connor about what life has been like since the media firestorm broke out around her family.
“We’re very hurt and confused and we stood up for what we believe,” O’Connor said. “The news just took it totally out of proportion. They lied about it.”
O’Connor told Loesch her family is considering leaving Indiana and that they are not sure if it will be safe to reopen.

Once again the militant left exposes their true hatred and who they really are over a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question.
They did to a small family owned business ,what they have
been fighting for themselves.
I think they did a big disservice to themselves.
On a good note over 300,000 has been raised to cover their losses.
This country is need of some serious healing, starting with a leader who can unite us.

And yea, let's start hitting the moslem t-short makers with demands to print up t-shirts that say "Christ is King". Or how about suing the moslem cabbies and cab companies who won't transport someone with a bottle of wine or a seeing eye dog.

      WOW! Good point.
The trouble is that people of conscience DO serve gays, and happily, but just don't want to participate in a marriage they feel goes against their conscience..., their faith.
What the left immediately does is label them as HATERS.....very effective.

  6. Actually I have no problem with what O'Connor said. She would serve the public regardless of their sexual orientation in their business establishment. Perfect.

The decision whether to cater a private wedding reception or not is a business one and one that affects only the business (loss of income) and the two individuals getting married. Considering the bad rep ones business would possibly get refusing to cater same sex marriages it may be economically unsound to take that position.

The attitude that one will not cater same sex marriages is, nonetheless, indicative of bigotry.

As to making threats against Memories Pizza,
yes, this is quite troubling, and certainly does nothing to make the case for tolerance.

It really goes to show what happens when intolerant religion is successful in codifying in law its intolerance. Just glance at Islam and the theocratic states of the Middle East.

Well Republican and Proud that surely is a great rant. You are very wrong about me however. I love free speech and fully support your god Given right to believe and say WHATEVER you damn well please. Even when you make an ass of yourself.

What I find laughable, <and it the reason I am no longer a republican and refuse to join the Tea Party is the near universal demand to conform 100% with conservative and Tea party agenda or your automatically considered a facist, Obama supporter, a Communist, anti American, and other such bullshit. The right's infatuation with ad hominem and hyperbole is becoming legendary.

It is not possible to have a discussion with the folks that are slave to any particular dogma because no matter what the issue and regardless of how sound arguments against the position, the response is always knee jerk.

You're certain to turn this around, that's fine. It won't be the truth but what the hell, free speech and chained thought for the right.

Have a wonderful day as today is Easter. Be sure to observe it as Christ would have you observe it.

  7. They etymology of the word "bigotry" is apropos here. The exact origin of the word is unknown, but it may have come from the German bei and Gott, or the English by God.

Now the 1st Amendment states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.... so any law requiring private persons or enterprises to perform "acts" (exercise) which violate their religious beliefs is de jure, Unconstitutional.

  20. We frequently see LIBERALS on this blogs and on other various blogs comparing conservatives to Hitler and the Nazis. This is not only ERRONEOUS but very ironic, since the Nazis had much more in common with American LIBERALS than they did with American conservatives. A few points of resemblance between the Nazis and modern American LIBERALS..There's just a lot of wacky opinions out there, and an internet forum gives these Lame-brained LIBERAL WEIRDOS the anonymity they need to express opinions they could never mention in front of normal, functioning people.

    * The Nazis hated all traditional religions, especially Christianity and Judaism. And just in case you didn’t already know it, the Nazis murdered tens of thousands of Christians and thousands of priests and nuns.

    * The Nazis were huge believers in Darwinian evolution, and in fact used it as a major part of their Holocaust ideology.

    * The Nazis asserted the right to replace and appoint priests and pastors and/or to shut down churches that they believed were teaching "harmful," "dangerous" principles.

    * The Nazis targeted private Christian schools to prevent children from being taught traditional values and beliefs.

    * The Nazis insisted on total control over education. All school curricula had to be approved by the national government.

    * The Nazis more than tolerated homosexuality in their high-ranking circles. In fact, many Nazi founders and leaders were gay. There is evidence that Hitler himself was gay and later bi-sexual. (It's true that the Nazis publicly condemned and persecuted some gays, but this was a smokescreen to hide their own perversion and to target enemies who happened to be gay.)

    * The Nazis believed that the government had the right to regulate or take over any business that it wanted to regulate or own.

    * The Nazis rejected traditional values.

    * The Nazis sought to impose abortion on women who were "non-Aryan." They had no problem with abortion per se, but they didn't want "pure Aryan women" having abortions. When the Nazis came to power, they loosened Germany's anti-abortion laws.

    * The Nazis banned gun ownership for groups they believed posed a threat, especially Jews, and they insisted on national/universal gun registration. Most ordinary German citizens could own guns if they so desired, but the Nazis claimed the right to ban any group or person from owning guns if they felt the need to do so.

    * The Nazis rejected federalism/local control and sought to centralize all power in the national government.

So the next time you see some lame brain liberal compare conservatives to the Nazis, remind them that Hitler and the Nazis had much more in common with American LIBERALS than they did with American conservatives

  21. Man, Lisa...this is quite a bunch above in comments.

Here's the rub; It's been reported that some gays are supporting the pizza owners, feeling that they have every right to their religious conscience. They never said they hated gays, never said they'd not welcome them in for a slice...just the marriage bit.
As Lesbian Conservative talk show woman Tammy Bruce says "I don't understand; the LGBT community has fought so their liberties are not imposed on, so they're accepted no matter what they think or who they like/love... so how can they be threatening this place for exactly that?"

The left immediately brands with HATRED anybody who disagrees with them; that's got to stop. It stops all conversation, and (effectively, and they know it) labels incorrectly loving people with consciences.

It's not like anybody can go elsewhere for a cake or a flower bouquet. And any mature person would.
Sure, it doesn't feel good to be turned away, but it's only the marriage bit, only the catering situation (who caters a wedding with pizza?!) that became a hurdle for those with that strong a Christian faith.

Don Corleone....the leftwing likes to call Hitler a Christian in their attempts to demean Christians....I know; it's nuts but, apparently, their truth trumps real truth these days.
And it's hilarious that they call the Right "Fascist" when the sheer definition is THEIR beliefs.

  24. It seems leftwingnutz constantly look for things to get angry over. When they find something they run around like their hair's on fire yelling the sky is falling.

I mean...why in hell would anyone get so worked up over a law passed in Indiana,a law similar to law's already in place in over 25 other states? These mooks get so worked up over shit like this that will have zero affect on their personal lives......for Christ sake, dont they have more important things to get worked up over?

Thank you anyway, Mr. Obama.. But count me out of your Communist agenda....I still believe in the American way.
I WILL NOT CONFORM. I WILL NOT PARTICIPATE. I am an American and I will NOT stand in line for your handouts.

Tell it to the all sniveling, spoiled children, who are always are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberals,,. And the last I heard, was that the people in Indiana didn't ask for any of your, or any othe liberal's suggestions

  26. When I was growing up we used to make fun of countries in Central and South America for the flimsy governments that were run by two-bit dictators who made up the script as they went along. In fact, we made so much fun of these operations that Woody Allen made a movie in 1971 called Bananas which parodied the governments and their haphazard operations. It is probably considered insensitive today to even refer to our southern friends in such terms. More importantly, the question is: How much are we becoming a similar operation?

This is not to state that the root cause of this problem is President Obama. Presidents have been at odds with Congress regarding the powers of the presidency since time began (1789). Early on it was more a process of defining who could do what. In recent times, it has seemed to people and scholars on both sides of the aisle that executive power has expanded at the expense of the Congress with a short turnaround in the mid 1970’s in the aftermath of Watergate. However, the current president has exerted executive power to the 10th degree bringing us the edge of a constitutional crisis.

Since January 2011 when Mr. Obama no longer had a majority in both houses of Congress, he has told the Congress on too many occasions that he will do what he wants and they cannot stop him.

Instead of attempting to negotiate a deal with the Republicans who very actively want to structure a multi-faceted immigration reform program, Mr. Obama told them to stick it in their ear and “legalized” five million people here in America illegally.

That caused 26 states to sue him and have the program put on hold. He followed that up by negotiating an agreement with a dangerous adversary, Iran, and made blatant he intends to circumvent the Congress.

  27. "If with all your heart ye truly seek me, Ye shall ever surely find me," thus saith our God.

I believe we are so troubled now, because too many of us have stopped trying to find Him, and have abandoned ourelves to cynicism, suspicion, resentment, fear and contempt instead.

Don't fret. Don't fume. Stop casting aspersions, and instead have a HAPPY EASTER!

  34. The silver swan who living had not note
When death approached unlocked her silent, silent throat.
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore
Thus sang her first and last, then sang no more.
Farewell, all joys. O, Death come close mine eyes.
More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise.
