The Ferguson Verdict

So let's see how you feel about this and why. I am almost afraid to see the responses, but I really would like to know your feelings and why you feel that way.
Was justice served? Was there a need for justice? Who played the biggest role in how this tragedy ended up? How can we prevent these tragedies from happening in the future? Did Obama and Holder help or hurt this?
Please try not to insult each other.
Thank you

    2. No, not really.

Not that you're necessarily wrong that the media didn't throw a little gas on the fire but the conditions behind the act weren't media created.

Brown was symbolic of a much larger issue and unfortunately, he will be used to deflect attention from legitimate issues.

So now they blame the prosecutor, the police force as well as the cop who shot Brown... the cops! Personally I blame Michael Brown for being a thug.

Rev Al has been calling for riots, pickets, demonstrations, and organizing nation wide chaos. How anyone missed it is mind boggling

  5. Michael Brown was, indeed, a VICTIM, but not of Darren Wilson, the local police, or of White Culture. Please let me share something I just said at my own blog, because I think it pertains very well to Lisa's question:

The "underlying cause" of Negro rioting and most of the other hateful, counter-prooductive, self-destrucive activities at the heart of modern Black Culture lies at the feet of the MARXIAN-FABIAN-SOCIALIST-PROGRESSIVE-LIBERAL-STATIST-STINKO-PINKO AGITATORS whose REAL agenda has always been to defame, uproot, destroy and replace our once-predominantly-Christian ethos with godless, inherently tyrannical, COLLECTIVIST ideology.

Slavery and Jim Crowe were abolished a LONG time ago. It has been in the best interest of Red Agitators ONLY to do everything possible to keep those hideous things alive in the minds of the ignorant people whose challenges the Left seeks always to EXPLOIT to the LEFT'S advantage.

Not only that, vile influences like our current poor excuse for a president -- an atrocious, utterly venal practitioner of demagoguery, if ever there was one, -- find it works to their advantage to fan the flames of discontent, anger, rebellion, and the unhealthy desire to wreak vengeance.

In this way America's First Black President is guilty of setting back progress in race relations by at least fifty years.

As we've seen in "liberated" Sub-Saharan Africa, in Haiti, and as I have seen in the Negro colleges and schools where I, personally, served as a teacher, Negro potentates and authority figures rarely-if-ever give two hoots in hell for the welfare of their own people -- a sad truth no one on the Left would ever deign to acknowledge.

AGITATORS of ANY stripe are profoundly EVIL.

  6. AIn't got no blog... did you listen to Sharpton? He specifically said that if you are looting, if you are engaged in violence, if you harm others, you do not speak, or act on behalf of the Brown family, but rather yourself.

He said it repeatedly and he said it strongly...

Nowhere did he call people to violence, in fact, he condemned it in very strong terms.

Did he call for peaceful, non violent protest? Yes he did... which of course is a constitutionally protected action.

That being said, I'm no fan of Sharpton and would have preferred him not being there, or involved. It is not his city.

    1. The tragedy is that lost in all this are those who are trying to implement leadership and make a point of the conditions this case symbolizes even if it does so imperfectly.

But the networks want national figures, Dave. Ministers or social workers familiar with the neighborhood and trying to accomplish something just don't make good national copy.

  7. There was an unarmed kid shot in a Cleveland playground and another in NYC (I believe) walking down a the stairs of a project high rise unarmed and simply being shot by police on patrol.

This issue is just going to fester.
It is probably a correct application of law that the jury did not indict. Ferguson was not the place you'd want to pitch your war tent. To many negatives against Michael Brown. In this life you get the law. You might get justice in the next.

But there is a much larger issue that is not going to be covered, is probably not going to find leadership and will be hidden under the sensationalism.

Much of the minority population in America is part of the 20% and growing that has simply been cast off by the economy. Add drugs and guns and you've got a real mess. Right now the resolution is to militarize the police with the expectation of keeping the violence contained.
The War on Drugs(LMFAO) and gun loon culture just make this more intractable.

So the rage in the community boils over and the reaction focuses on Brown, further polarizing the population at large.
Meanwhile those who are trying to constructively organize are upstaged. And it goes on.

We need an honest discussion on race and the underlying problems that created current racial tensions. We need to denounce the violence occurring to innocent business owners and property owners in Ferguson at the same time and allow law enforcement to react to the destructive anarchy that is occurring.

It is very clear a discussion of the complex underlying issues won't happen in this forum, and likely many others.

  14. No matter what the outcome, the looters would have looted because to them it is acceptable and they know the police are going to stay on the sidelines.

Who cares that the report of Brown being shot in the back were 100% false and the "eye witnesses" admitted they didn't see the incident, he just robbed a store and drugs were in his system. This is a chance to loot, burn and have a grand ol time. If the grand jury had made Wilson stand trial, there still would have been looting and riots. Robbing a liquor store is not about emotion it is about free booze.

There are many victims in this. The business owners who were looted and had their businesses burned. The owner of the convenience store that Brown robbed and Wilson who can no longer have a career in law enforcement.

RN, there will not be an honest discussion on race because it is the only card a number of public figures have to play. Would Sharpton and Jackson be millionaires if they didn't play the race card. Would Obama have won the election if his handlers didn't play the race card. Face it, money talks and race-baiting is very profitable

  28. The WaPo had this to say about the riots in Ferguson, and I strongly agree with most of the following:

[W]hat distinguishes Ferguson from the crowded historical catalogue of racially-motivated street violence is what has happened in recent weeks: The unseemly buildup to the announcement of the grand jury’s conclusion that no crime was committed in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown has produced an expectation of ugliness. What occurred Monday night — and may continue in the days ahead — is rioting as planned event, so pervasively predicted, so extensively prepared for as to obscure the power and meaning of the protests.

A news media obsessed with predicting the next step, a security apparatus equipped to put down almost any uprising, and a political power structure apparently seeking to head off violence by predicting it have combined to produce an unprecedented sense of inevitability, reducing what has historically been an explosion of frustration to a kind of staged performance....

And just to think, this all started with the election of the First Black president! WOW were we wrong.
And the sad part is that the Good Black People are going to get the short end of the stick because it is they and the so-called black leaders (Al Sharpton and company) along with Obama, Eric Holder and the rest of the Slime-Bags who refuse to change their own culture by refusing to allow bad behavior and by not banishing drug lords and users from their neighborhoods.

And because of people like the above mentions FOOLS and the dead-beats, who follow them like Brown's stepfather who raised this Gentle Giant, I have come to the conclusion that the black and white cultures in this country will never co-exist peacefully.

I haven't even heard the most radical of voices call for accountability from the black community who thinks they are above the law. = We embolden these people and we'll get more of it and at a higher volume in the future.

I actually haven't heard anything form holder, tho if I did, I know it would be libtard racist. I did hear obama deflect all blame for this incident away from mike brown and "[non]family" by stating the real problem is there isn't enough black people on police forces in communities where black welfare thugs want to pretend they are above the law.

I think that sums it up pretty well.

    1. Kid,
there isn't enough black people on police forces

      And why is that?

Well, for one reason, a clean criminal record and no history of past drug use are two of the requirements for being on a police force. Most police forces run a polygraph to try to ascertain if there has been past drug use on the part of applicants. I have a cousin (white) who tried to join the police force. No go. She had, some 4-5 years before, been a cocaine user.

There are other requirements as well -- including two years of college.

This thug then attacked an officer while he's sitting in his patrol car, punching the officer and trying to get his gun.

Now what part of this action makes the cop the bad guy?

This thug was put down and it was a blessing for society....how long would it had taken for this gangster to cause havoc on a city street?

IMO the officer saved a future confrontation with this bozo and he should get a medal.
